Third day at Google! For breakfast, my roommates and I and some other EP interns ate at a cafe called Blaze. Like the other cafes, it was very delicious! This is where Ishwarya, Brenda, and Lucy discovered one of their favorite breakfast pastries: zucchini bread muffins. After breakfast we had another orientation class where we got to practice what we learned the day before in a lab.
So most of my days consist of shuttle to work, breakfast at an awesome cafe, work, lunch at an awesome cafe, work, dinner at an awesome cafe, shuttle back home. I probably won't blog about those days, buuuut luckily there are lots of rocking intern events that are very bloggable (I don't think thats a word, but hopefully you know what I mean!).
We had our first EP intern event today. As the title of this post suggests, we made sushi! Here is how it went down... First, we were split up into groups(after given cute Google aprons) and then we gathered around the table with the sushi chefs so that they could give us a lesson on how to make 3 types of sushi: hand rolls, inside rolls, and outside rolls.

After we had our mini sushi making lesson, the chefs explained that we should have been paying attention because we were gonna have a competition. We were supposed to make sushi and then put it on a plate to be judged by the chefs. Once we were aware of the competition details, we were let loose to grab as many ingredients as we wanted.
So... it was definitely a lot harder than we though it was going to be. The chefs made it look so easy! Our group had tons of fun though. We had to come up with a group name and chose "Los Cuatro Amigos" (translated to the 4 friends). In the Cuatro Amigos group was Sean, Chelsea, Brenda, and me. Woo! I feel like Brenda and I ate so much sushi - we would eat any sushi that wasn't pretty enough to put on our final plate! haha We also felt like we had to take a serious picture. Aren't all master chef pictures like that? ;)

We experimented making all different kinds of rolls with ingredients including: tuna, salmon, crab, avocado, other vegetables, and of course rice and seaweed. In the end, this is what our plate looked like. :)

Guess what? The Cuatro Amigos actually won 2nd place! This was mostly attributed to the fact that Brenda drenched the salmon in some sauce before she rolled it. Way to go, Brenda! It was very exciting. In the end we had full stomachs and got to keep the aprons. It was a great way to end the day!
