Definitely Wasn't a Dream

Friday, July 6.

*Disclaimer: This post may not be very coherent.*

I didn't get very much sleep the night before. Nic or my mom would wake me up every four hours so I could take some of my pain medication. It also didn't help that my foot felt like twitching a few times throughout the night. :(

When I woke up, I had to come to the realization that breaking my ankle wasn't a dream. I figured that I needed to give someone at Google the heads up that I wasn't going to be returning to the bay area anytime soon, except I really didn't want to bother anyone over the holiday break. I sent Carolyn a text message asking if she could call me whenever she had time to chat about some bad news I had for her. She called me later that evening, and made me feel less stressed about having to miss so much work. I think hearing that I broke my ankle was the last thing she would have expected me to say, so she was probably really surprised. Regardless, she was really nice and understanding about all of it. :)

The day that it happened, Jen posted this picture on facebook with the caption "Guess who!" and she tagged Janie and I. It was pretty easy to tell that the crippled person on the hospital bed was me. lol Later I got a call from Marisol, and the first thing she said was "OMG What did you do to yourself?!..." haha I <3 her!
"Guess who!"
I felt like I should also let my favorite roommates know what was going on. I kind of wanted to tell them all together, so I posted on Brenda's wall: "Hi! Um... I miss you! Can we have a hangout or something soon? I have something importante to tell you, Lucy H., and Ishwarya Venkat!!" All of them were out enjoying the long weekend, so I should have known that it wasn't going to be possible telling them all together. Brenda was visiting her sister in Seattle, Ishy was in Las Vegas with her family, and Lucy was in Tahoe!

The first person to visit me, was my Aunt Cruz. I was pretty happy when I saw her, and it wasn't just because she was holding a Keva Juice in her hand. ;) She also brought me a big box of cherries. Did you know that cherries are really good at reducing inflammation? I ate a whole bunch of cherries that night! haha
Tia Cruz :)
Later that evening my Tio and Tia, Cuco and Laura, came to visit and they brought me a caramel apple! It was so delicious. But I didn't get to eat it until after Cuco had given me a lecture about how I shouldn't have been riding the longboard in the first place. lol
MMM
Cuco and Laura stayed for a while and my little siblings convinced me to play Bingo and Loteria (Mexican Bingo) with them. I crutched myself over the the dining room table, and played with them for a while. I think Loteria is so fun! The cards are colorful, but it makes it more fun for everyone, because we play with quarters. Makes it more exciting. lol
My sister beating our butts in Loteria!
When Cuco and Laura left, my foot was hurting pretty bad and there wasn't much else to do, so I went and laid down in bed. By this time (1am), Brenda and Lucy had seen the message I left on Brenda's wall, and Brenda had noticed the picture that Jen had tagged me in. Niether Brenda nor Lucy had good internet access, so I ended up telling them both through text. There were lots of sad faces in those messages. :( Thanks for all of the encouragement, girlies!
