SURGERY DAY! Appointment time - 1:00pm.
I didn't sleep very much the night before from all the anxiety about the surgery. I just wanted to finally make some progress.
*Droid* I heard my phone ring from an email early in the morning. It was a very sweet ecard from Ramya! She wished me good luck on my surgery and a speedy recovery. Best of all, it made me smile and that was just what I needed. THANKS RAMYA! :)
Eventually I got out of bed and took a long shower. Maybe I was just trying to wash off all of the nervousness I was feeling. I wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything since midnight of last night, so I was pretty hungry. No breakfast or lunch for Tasha...
Since I was going to be in surgery, I didn't have to worry about doing my hair or putting on my face. All I had to do was put on a Google shirt (for good luck), some shorts, and my right shoe. And we were off...
It was a short 5 minute drive to Las Cruces Surgical. My mom dropped me off at the front door, and then went to park the car. As I crutched into the lobby, I couldn't help but notice that there were lots of elderly people there! I felt like I was in the wrong place. lol As we waited in the waiting room, my Tia Cruz came by with my cousin Andrew to wish me luck. Andrew was playing on his iPad taking crazy random pictures of me and my booted foot. Too bad I don't have any of them to put up here.
I think I just have bad luck at the doctors' office. I had the worst pre-surgery ever... It's not an experience that I'd want to tell the whole world. Let's just say that the surgery was scheduled for 1:00pm and didn't start until after 4:00pm. Before the surgery could start, Dr. Lindsey came and scribbled something on my leg. Apparently it's a law or something for surgeons to do that to ensure that they operate on the right body part. Crazy! It took me a while to realize that the letters on my leg were just Dr. Lindsey's initials.
The surgery lasted about 1.5 hours. When I woke up, all I remember was that I was starving, but the only thing they had there was pretzels. I was still really loopy from the anesthesia, so I kept falling asleep while trying to eat the pretzels. lol Dr. Lindsey had told my mom and aunt that everything went smoothly and other instructions to follow after I went home.
There was like 3 people that had to help me get into the car afterwards. lol When I got home I at some jello, a little bit of soup, and the rest of the pretzels. My phone had so many messages from people who just wanted to check in to see how my surgery went. :)
Right before bed, I had a hangout with Brenda and Lucy. They probably got a kick out of how loopy I was. haha They are so cute! <3
