So today was that day that I was gonna finally get to meet with a surgeon to discuss the plan for my Trimalleolar Fracture (fancy way of saying that my ankle is broken in 3 places).
The appointment was at 10:30, but my mom thought it was at 10. Regardless, my mom woke me up early because she had to go to court for a parking ticket. I waited in the car while she took care of the ticket, and then we went over to Las Cruces Orthopaedic Associates. We filled out all of the necessary paperwork, and I'm pretty sure I fell asleep in the waiting room for a while.
When my name was called, I followed the lady that called my name to a room in the back. I later found out that this room was called the Cast Room. The first thing they did, was take off the splint I had on. My foot was so swollen and bruised. :(
After the X-rays, Dr. Lindsey (soon to be the person that was gonna operate on my foot) came in and analyzed my foot and the X-rays. He poked my foot in a couple of painful places and then decided that it would be a good idea to have the surgery right away... The surgery was to be scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday, 7/10). Before they let me leave, they had to do something to keep my foot stable until the surgery. Dr. Lindsey chose a boot. I did not like the boot. I'm not sure if it was because of the way it rubbed on my ankle, the weight of it, or the shape of it, but it caused me a lot of pain... It also didn't help that they had to force my foot to be at a 90degree angle to get it into the boot. :'(
When the appointment was over, I thought I had earned some enchiladas. lol So, my mom drove us to Si Senor and I bought us some green enchiladas and sopapillas for lunch. :)
The boot was really bothering me, so I stayed in bed most of the day. I chatted with Carolyn and Roshni to give them an update of how the appointment went and when the surgery would be. They were both working on seeing if I would be able to work from home, so that I didn't have to miss so much time out of my internship. They are awesome. :)
Around dinner time, my fabulous Tia Cruz, brought me some more enchiladas and a Keva Kolada from Keva Juice! :P Jessica came into my room asking, "Why does everyone bring you so many enchiladas?" lol
I was really nervous about the surgery tomorrow, and the boot made it really hard to fall asleep. I blogged a bit, and I watched a few episodes of Modern Family (suggested by Carolyn). That show is so cute! If you haven't seen it, you should definitely watch it... As the night went on, my anxiety grew.
