Wednesday, June 27.
Today was the first day of Google IO. This is a conference where the "tech world's latest web, mobile and social breakthroughs" are brought to light. Where true innovation can be found! So why am I talking about IO? During the keynote on the first day of IO, Google+ had some big news....
Google+ announced the launch of a new app: Google+ Events! The cool part is that this is the product that I have been working on this summer! Check out the G+ Events promo video below. If you look close enough, you can find me twice in the video! :P
Yay, EVENTS!
So what is the big deal about events? I'll tell you what events is all about... Unlike other event applications, G+ events tries to engage users before, during, and after the event.
Before.
One of my favorite things about Events is that it seamlessly integrates with your Google Calendar. If you RSVP to an event you were invited to, it will show up on your Calendar. It doesn't look like other events though. It is cute and will show you the creator, and other event details when you click on it.

Notice the fun balloon theme of the event above. Google+ has lots of cute and animated/cinemagraphic themed invites for the events you create.

During.
During the party, people should use Party Mode! Party Mode is a great new feature that allows guests to automatically upload photos from their phones to the event's landing page. This way, anyone who is invited to the event can see the photos in a slide show as they are uploaded in real-time. It's an awesome way to experience the event through multiple perspectives!
After.
When the event is over, all guests can browse through all of the photos of the event all in one place!
Working with the Party Team (Events/Photos) has been a blast! I encourage everyone to play with the product, and enjoy connecting with others through events! :)
